The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan: 915,100 ha have been sowed with spring crops, which is by 275,400 ha more than last year

As of May 8, 2016, in total 915,100 ha have been sowed with spring crops in the republic, which is 52% of the plan. As of this date last year, 639,700 ha had been sowed with spring crops.

The leading districts are Zainsk (39,600 ha have been sowed with crops, which is 77%), Sarmanovo (34,300 ha or 62%), Aznakaevo (34,100 ha or 52%) municipal districts.

In total spring grains have been sowed on 642,300 ha (or 61% of the plan) in the republic (in 2015 – 478,100 ha), where 197,200 ha (or 44%) have been sowed with spring wheat (in 2015 – 90,100 ha), 305,100 ha (or 85%) – with barley (in 2015 – 291,500 ha), 54,200 ha (or 86%) – with oat (in 2015 – 49,800 ha), 45,700 ha (or 83%) – with pea (in 2015 – 33,400 ha), 33,000 ha (or 35%) – with grain maize (in 2015 – 9,300 ha), and 10,800 ha (or 7%) – with silage (in 2015 – 5,800 ha).

19,400 ha (17%) have been sowed with rape (in 2015 – 6,700 ha), 53,900 ha (49%) have been sowed with sunflower for oilseeds (in 2015 – 15,900 ha).

42,800 ha (67%) have been sowed with sugar beetroot (in 2015 – 27,800 ha).

137,500 ha (51%) have been sowed with annual grasses (in 2015 – 104,100 ha).
