The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan: 609,700 ha have been sowed with spring crops, which is by 290,000 ha more than last year

As of May 5, 2016, in total 609,700 ha have been sowed with spring crops in the republic, which is 34% of the plan. As of this date last year, 319,700 ha had been sowed with spring crops.

The leading districts are Zainsk (32,700 ha have been sowed with crops, which is 64%), Sarmanovo (26,400 ha or 48%), Chistopol (24,000 ha or 39%), Mamadysh (23,500 ha or 44%) municipal districts.

In total spring grains have been sowed on 440,200 ha (or 42% of the plan) in the republic (in 2015 – 243,700 ha), where 107,100 ha (or 24%) have been sowed with spring wheat (in 2015 – 29,200 ha), 236,700 ha (or 66%) – with barley (in 2015 – 169,600 ha), 45,100 ha (or 72%) – with oat (in 2015 – 29,000 ha), 34,800 ha (or 63%) – with pea (in 2015 – 10,700 ha), 11,700 ha (or 13%) – with grain maize (in 2015 – 3,300 ha).

5,600 ha (5%) have been sowed with rape (in 2015 – 3,100 ha), 33,700 ha (30%) have been sowed with sunflower for oilseeds (in 2015 – 7,700 ha).

29,600 ha (47%) have been sowed with sugar beetroot (in 2015 – 13,500 ha).
