The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan: 467,700 ha have been sowed with spring crops, which is by 318,300 ha more than last year

As of May, 3, 2016, in total 467,700 ha have been sowed with spring crops in the republic, which is 26% of the plan. As of this date last year, 149,400 ha had been sowed with spring crops.

The leading districts are Zainsk (30,900 ha have been sowed with crops, which is 60%), Sarmanovo (22,700 ha, or 41%), Chistopol (20,700 ha, or 33%), and Aznakaevo (19,500 ha, or 30%) municipal districts.

Spring grains have been sowed on 339,800 ha in the republic (32%), where 73,200 ha have been sowed with spring wheat (16%), 195,200 ha – with barley (55%), 37,200 ha – with oat (59%), 24,700 ha – with pea (45%), and 6,300 ha – with grain maize (7%).

2,900 ha (3%) have been sowed with rape, 25,500 ha (23%) have been sowed with sunflower for oilseeds.

24,700 ha have been sowed with sugar beetroot (39%).
