The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan: 407,600 ha have been sowed with spring crops, which is by 372,500 ha more than last year

As of May, 2, 2016, in total 407,600 ha have been sowed with spring crops in the republic, which is 23% of the plan. As of this date last year, 35,100 ha had been sowed with spring crops.

The leading districts are Zainsk (27,700 ha have been sowed with crops, which is 54%), Sarmanovo (21,200 ha, or 39%), Chistopol (18,800 ha, or 30%), and Aznakaevo (18,500 ha, or 28%) municipal districts.

Spring grains have been sowed on 296,500 ha in the republic (28%), where 60,500 ha have been sowed with spring wheat (13%), 174,800 ha – with barley (49%), 33,100 ha – with oat (53%), 20,600 ha – with pea (37%), and 5,000 ha – with grain maize (5%).

1,600 ha (1.4%) have been sowed with rape, 22,100 ha (20%) have been sowed with sunflower for oilseeds.

22,100 ha have been sowed with sugar beetroot (35%).
