On September 9 2015 Vladimir Sotchenko, Director of All-Russia Science and Research Corn Institute, visited experimental fields of Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture.
There he examined new varieties of corn hybrids. Under the conditions of the current year a number of new grain and silage varieties appeared, which will undergo the state examination.
This collaborative work of the scientists of 2 science and research institutes is very important because under current conditions seed breeding is an AIC sector where the government sets the task to substitute import.
It goes without saying that under proper conditions it is possible to enlarge greatly the area for hybridization with the aim to produce top quality corn seeds, taking into consideration the fact that there are modern domestic corn hybrids which equal or better the hybrids of some famous foreign companies, such as Limagrain (LG), Maisadur Semans, etc.
The result of the collaborative work of scientists from two science and research institutes became the creation of several corn hybrids – “Nur”, which was included into the State Registry in 5 regions in 2014, “Bilyar 160”, which is undergoing the state examination. In terms of productiveness and technological characteristics, they are much better than the popular corn hybrid “Katerina CB”.
