7-month record of breed livestock farms and distribution of bred heifers were discussed in the ministry

A session “A 7-month record of breed livestock farms and distribution of bred heifers” took place in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan today.

The following officials participated in the event: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov, Head of  “The Chief State Agricultural Directorate for Pedigree Livestock Breeding in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan” Ilsur Zakirov, experts from the Ministry of agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, chiefs of local directorates for agriculture and food, directors of breed livestock farms and breed enterprises.

Started the session, Marat Akhmetov noted that the Republic of  Tatarstan has an 8%-share of the gross milk production in the Russian Federation, but there is a necessity to increase the potential and seek to produce not less than 6,500 kg of milk a year.

Ilsur Zakirov gave a report on the 7-month record of breed livestock farms and distribution of bred heifers. He informed that the average milk yield was 3,777 kg per cow (+372kg compared with the last year level), the gross milk yield was 203,700 tons (+12%). In total 4,237 young breeders were distributed.

There is a good distribution of young breeders on stud farms in Baltasi municipal district such as OOO named after G.Tukai (68 heads out of 340 cows), OOO “Yana Tormysh” (80 heads out of 460 cows), OOO “Tatarstan” (78 heads out of 650 cows).

A need of farms for nutritious forage for milk herds was also discussed at the session.

Following the results of the session, a number of tasks was set: to provide farms with young breeders of high quality, to increase not only the population of young breeders but also to raise the cow productivity.

Under instructions of Marat Akhmetov one more task was also set – to sow corn at 3kg per cow. There are 54,300 cows on breed livestock farms. 230,000 ha have been sowed with corn in the republic, the crop yield is 50 dt/ha. Thus, 12,000 ha with corn are necessary to be thrashed for grain.
