On Tuesday, July 28, a session devoted to the issues of organic agriculture development took place in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, involving the Public Council on Organic Production under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, directors of agricultural enterprises of the republic, representatives of different organizations took part in the session.

The formation procedure of the republican organic producers’ register and the prospects for households to participate in the development of organic production on the territory of the republic were discussed at the session.

The first step to create the system of organic production on the territory of the republic is to examine the location and the technological readiness of an agricultural enterprise itself for organic production.

In the current year, with the support of “The regional center for engineering of biotechnologies of the Republic of Tatarstan” and the Institute of Ecology and Subsurface Resources Management of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, the 1st stage of the ecological auditing will be carried out on a free-of-charge basis for the households relating to small and medium-sized business enterprises and willing to participate in the development of organic agriculture, which will enable them to claim the state support at switching to organic production. The mentioned above stage includes the examination of the household location, its sanitary-ecological state, the sanitary state of soils, examination of documents.

This year, for 5 households, the location of which is relevant to the rules of organic production, a full course of examination necessary to confirm the status of an organic producer will be carried out on a free-of-charge basis.
