Chinese delegation of scientists-agronomists visited Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture

Yesterday the Chinese delegation headed by Liu Rongqing - Director of the research center of the Agricultural Academy of Dinsi town, Gansu province, - visited Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture.

Scientists dealing with selection of winter wheat and potato are on the delegation.

The opening speech was given by Liu Rongqing - Director of the research center of the Agricultural Academy of Dinsi town, Gansu province, he noted that Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture is well known in China.

At the invitation of China, the delegation of scientists from Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture – experts in selection of spring wheat, pea and winter wheat – visited the PRC 2 times. The Academy is similar to our Institute concerning the field of research, there are 138 research scientists, including 16professors and 24 candidates of sciences. Selection is done in 12 fields, where the main fields are selection of winter wheat, spring wheat, soya, lentil, potato, medical plants.

Scientists of the Academy know researches form Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture dealing with selection and seed growing very well and the purpose of their visit is to promote cooperation in the sphere of selection of winter wheat and potato, to share the experience, and to participate in projects.

Director of Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture, Corresponding Meneber of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Marsel Tagirov, briefly spoke on scientific and research activities and production activities of the institute, paying special attention to the issues with a possibility of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Zenon Stashevsky, Cand.Sc.Biology, head of the department of agricultural biotechnology of the Institute, informed about researches in the sphere of potato selection and seed growing.

There was a fruitful discussion concerning the main issues of interest for both parties, and the schedule of visits for the stuff of the Institute to China.

At the end of the meeting 2 agreements on scientific and technical cooperation in the sphere of selection of winter wheat and potato were signed.

The delegation of Chinese scientists-agronomists continued its work on experimental fields of the Central experimental base of the Institute.
