In Tatarstan honey-bee colonies are taken out of apiary houses

6 April 2015, Monday

At the end of March, about 15% of Tatarstan honey-bee colonies, which had over-wintered in apiary houses, were put in the open air, as it was reported in the Bee-Keeping Department.

Bees flew around the area, but soon the weather got bad, it got cold. Beekeepers decided not to bring beehives back into apiary houses – they were left outside, but they were draft-proofed till the warm spring comes. The sufficient amount of special feed-stuff was put into each beehive.

As the specialists of the Beekeeping Directorate reported, in total 246,600 bee-honey colonies would sip in Tatarstan this year. Last year there were 239,000 honey-bee colonies. It is worth mentioning that about 90% of honey-bee colonies belong to private farm households and only 10% are state owned.
