Today in the city hall Deputy Director of the Executive Committee Ivan Kuznetsov reported that the authorities imposed caps for the products being sold at agricultural fairs in Kazan.
He recalled that on January 24 Kazan mayor Ilsur Metshin visited one of the city markets and after that he set the task to monitor prices. The issue has been discussed at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan for a week.
“The price for products at fairs in comparison with the price for the same products at city markets, supermarkets and shops, is lower”, noted Ivan Kuznetsov. He gave the data for the previous Saturday. “1 kg of chicken cost 125 rubles at fairs and over 125 rubles at city markets. 1 kg of buckwheat cost 45 rubles at fairs and over 54 rubles at supermarkets”, reported Ivan Kuznetsov.
According to his words, 1 liter of milk cost 28 rubles at fairs and about 40 rubles in supermarkets. Beside this, 1 kg of sugar cost 48 rubles, a dozen of eggs of the 1st category cost 50 rubles, 1 kg of beef – 250-290 rubles, 1 kg of cabbage – 23 rubles, 1 kg of flour – 19 rubles.
“During the previous week food products estimated at 16 million rubles were brought to markets”, added the deputy director of the executive committee. “We ensured that agricultural fairs were popular. The city population realizes that it is much better to buy food products at fairs at more attractive prices. The queues at 7 o’clock in the morning prove that. Everybody realizes the necessity to organize fairs and to prolong the working hours”.
He also applied to the heads of the municipal districts and the directors of subdivisions in order to call them to tighten control over the organization of fairs, to keep the site clean, to invite policemen, to control the parking lot, etc.
Kazan mayor Ilsur Metshin emphasized that they should continue work. “More and more agricultural producers are coming, so we should think of additional sites for fairs”, he said.
He also emphasized the importance to create favourable conditions. “While speaking with people living in villages, we paid attention that we should stick to sanitary standards. It is obvious that veterinary standards must be kept in order to prevent intoxication, but it should not become a road of sorrows”, he said. He asked the people in charge of organization of fairs to take wants and needs of producers and sellers into consideration.
He also pointed out the necessity of daily price monitoring. “Today this is one of the most vital tasks. We must control the situation and detect those who raise prices and create economic problrms”, emphasized the mayor.
