The Department of Cattle Breeding and Pedigree Livestock Farming of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture held a roundtable discussion within the framework of the XVI All-Russia Agro-Industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn 2014” – “The state of the dairy cattle breeding in the Russian Federation and its state support”
Chiefs and skilled workers from relevant departments of the federal agrarian office, AIC administrative bodies, agricultural enterprises, farm households, as well as the representatives of branch associations, science and business took part in the discussion.
Chief of the Russian Federation Department of Cattle Breeding and Pedigree Livestock Farming Vladimir Labinov gave a report “The state and prospects for the development of dairy cattle breeding in the Russian Federation and its state support”. He noted that the overall production of unpasteurized milk in agricultural enterprises had amounted 9.9 million tons for 8 months of the current year. The figure is by 1.6% more than it was last year.
Vladimir Labinov also emphasized that the federal agrarian office prepared and introduced into the Government of the Russian Federation amendments to the State Program on agricultural development and regulations for the market of agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuff for 2013-2015. According to these amendments, all the branches of dairy cattle breeding for the state support are to be united in a separate program.
The participants of the roundtable discussion also looked upon the prospects for the development of dairy cattle breeding in the country. Chief experts of the branch shared their experience of successful dairy cattle breeding in some regions.
