On June 18 the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held the meeting in Stavropol State Agrarian University devoted to the development of agriculture. At the meeting he stated that nowadays one of the most important issues was to raise efficiency from the state support of AIC and to get good results. The aid should be more available for agricultural producers.
Putin said that annually about 200 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget to support agricultural sector. “These funds should guarantee maximum efficiency. I pay special attention to the high budget discipline and the receipt of funds by certain producers by the due date”, said the President.
At the meeting it was emphasized that the state policy concerning support of agriculture should aim at the implementation of plans. Priorities of such support should meet actual needs of agriculture. “Each ruble from the budget must promote development, encourage successful and perspective trends like import substitution. Today import substitution is really important. Of course, we are not going to grow bananas, but we have a lot of crops and we can be quite competitive”, said Vladimir Putin.
