Measures taken under conditions of drought and fire hazardous situation

Today in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan the briefing “Measures taken under conditions of the drought and fire hazardous situation” was held.

Marat Akhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted that despite of the good moistness in the spring, by the beginning of June the situation got much worse. In the tilth-top soil there is less than 10 mm of moistness. In 41 districts of the republic the emergency mode was announced due to the dry hot wind.

According to the words of the minister, the emergency response center headed by the First Deputy Minister Nikolai Titov is operating in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. The plan to address the consequences of the emergency mode is developed.

According to the recent data, 32.4 thousand tons of forage is preserved, including 21.6 thousand tons of hay and 70 thousand tons of haylage.

The rate of fodder preservation is much higher this year than last year. The following week is the time for work with perennial grasses.

The task set by Marat Akhmetov is to preserve forage for 5 days of wintering each day in June.

In 2014 the sowing area in the republic is 2.8 million ha, where 1603 thousand ha is for grains and pulses, 205.4 thousand ha is for crops of technical use, 983.6 thousand ha is for fodder crops, 1737.9 thousand ha is for spring crops.
