The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation together with the Ministry for Economic Development sent up the first draft proposal of the Customs Union Regulations “Safety Standards for Meat, Poultry and Their Products”. The document is agreed with the involved federal executive bodies and further it will be brought before the Eurasian Economic Commission for agitation and national approximation among member countries of the Customs Union.
The first draft proposal of the Customs Union Regulations mentioned above was developed by the Agro-Industrial Department of the Federal Agrarian Agency taking into account views of the scientific community and branch associations. All the comments given by the Ministry for Economic Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Healthcare, the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology, the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, and the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance were incorporated.
The purposes of the Regulations are the following: protection of life and health of people, the environment and animals; anticipation of misinforming of poultry consumers and poultry products consumers concerning products safety; providing reliable information about products; abiding by the terms of the Agreement on the United Principles and Regulations in the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation dated November 18, 2010, etc.
Development and agreement of the Regulations are important both for the business community and regulatory bodies that take part in setting clear standard requirements to poultry and poultry products on the territory of the Customs Union, and for consumers in terms of safety of the products.
