Effective work

The Federal Department of Agriculture summed up the results of the specific-purpose program called “Preservation and remediation of farmlands fertility and preservation of agricultural landscapes as part of the Russian National Heritage for the periods of 2006-2010 and till 2013”. The results are posted on the official website of the Government of the Russian Federation.

“Ameliorators have done a huge amount of work to increase the fertility of soils”, noted the Cabinet of Ministers.

As the result of this it became possible to stop withdrawal of farmlands, to start cultivating unused farmlands of more than 12,770,000 ha, which is 4 times more than it was planned, to protect farmlands against water erosion, saturation, flooding as well as against wind erosion and desert advancing (more than 1 million ha, which is 147% in proportion to the plan).

The program is very effective. Thus, the economic effect is estimated at more than 236 billion rubles. They are additional taxes from AIC (direct and indirect taxes, taxes into the budget from the agricultural production sectors of the economy) into the budget system of the Russian Federation. The social effect of the program can be proved by preservation and creation of additional 116 thousand workplaces, providing rural regions, having the population of not less than 700 thousand people, with public drinking water supply, protection of 290 rural settlements against saturation and protection of 670 settlements with total population of 1.4 million people as well as industrial and agricultural facilities against flooding.

Actual volume of funding for the whole period of the program is 547.8 billion rubles, where 76.6 billion rubles are the funding from the federal budget.
