A delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan, led by Rustem Gainullov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, paid a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Rustem Gainullov participated in the session "Surkhandarya - Tatarstan: Achievements and Potential of Interregional Cooperation," which is being held as part of the Russian-Uzbek Conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
During the session, participants discussed industrial cooperation between Tatarstan and Surkhandarya, as well as the potential for implementing major production projects, including in the chemical industry, agriculture, oil refining, transport and logistics, education, innovative technologies, and livestock development.
Rustem Gainullov described Tatarstan as the most economically developed region in Russia, boasting a robust industrial sector, a favorable investment climate, high scientific potential, and a well-developed infrastructure.
Trade and economic cooperation between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan has shown steady growth in recent years. By the end of 2025, foreign trade turnover was $427.1 million, there was an increase of 13.5% compared to 2024, in support of the national "Export" project.
Rustem Gainullov also emphasized the bilateral relations between Tatarstan and the Surkhandarya Region, which are characterized by a consistent and mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
The Deputy Minister also presented the capabilities of Tatarstan's agro-industrial complex and discussed the republic's export potential. He noted that export volumes have reached $540 million, with oil and fat products traditionally accounting for the largest share.
"I would especially like to note the active participation of the Surkhandarya Region in the international economic forum 'Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum.' This year, this venue will be open from May 12-17, and I invite you to participate. For the past two years, by decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it has received a federal status. This is a place where you can find new partners and sign new contracts," he added.
The Tatarstan delegation also participated in the international food exhibition 'UzFood – 2026,' which is being held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan. The exhibition is a key event in the food industry and brings together leading manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors.
Products from Kazan Delicacies LLC are on display. The company produces halal sausages and deli products in Kazan: frankfurters, sausages, ham, pepperoni, carpaccio, and deli products made from beef, turkey, and chicken.
During the "UzFood 2026" exhibition, Rustem Gainullov held a working meeting with the distribution company "The RDB Group," which specializes in food distribution throughout Uzbekistan.
