Traditional agricultural fairs resumed in the republic on March 14 at 14 locations in Kazan, two in Naberezhnye Chelny and the Zelenodolsk district, three in the Nizhnekamsk district, and at varying intervals in municipal districts.
Agricultural fairs have become a well-established tradition in Tatarstan and are held regularly, connecting producers and consumers, promoting agricultural development and improving the region's food security, all in line with the goals and objectives of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."
Last Saturday, Lenar Garipov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan, inspected the fairgrounds in Kazan. He walked the stalls on Batyrshina and Leningradskaya Streets, assessed the variety of products, and interacted with buyers and sellers.
The fairs traditionally offer fresh, natural produce directly from farmers, cooperatives, and agricultural enterprises in the republic at competitive prices.
Over the three weeks of the fairs, agricultural products worth a total of 282.7 million rubles were imported, including 296.0 tons of vegetables (including 184.0 tons of potatoes); 55.2 tons of bulk milk; 78.3 tons of sugar; 532,300 chicken eggs; and 301.5 tons of meat (including 155.6 tons of beef). A total of 2,738 vehicles were used for the fairs.
The spring agricultural fairs will run until April 26.
