The United Nations has declared 2026 the International Year of Women Farmers. This is a time when the world turns its gaze to those who toil the land every day, from dawn to dusk, to ensure that there is bread on our tables and warmth and comfort in our homes.
The international photo contest "Women Farmers: Faces of the Earth" is a large-scale project designed to capture and showcase the true heroines of our time: the women whose hands are shaping the future of agriculture.
The contest was established by the International Women's Union and is being held with the technical assistance of the Liaison Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Russian Federation, as well as with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The successes captured in the competition's photographs can serve as illustrative examples for potential participants in the federal project "Personnel in the Agro-Industrial Complex" and the national project "Technological Support for Food Security." The stories of women successfully combining traditional farming methods with modern technologies demonstrate real opportunities for career advancement and self-realization in the agro-industrial complex.
The competition is held in the following categories: "Portrait on the Land," "Labor as Art," "Gifts of the Land," "Traditions and Modernity," and "Family Farm." Professional photographers, amateur photographers, and women farmers themselves are invited to participate, both as the authors and subjects of the photographs. Applications will be accepted until September 25, 2026.
You can submit your application and read the full competition terms and conditions on the official website: https://womenagriculture.org/.
