Rustam Minnikhanov and Oksana Lut took part in the opening of a new dormitory at Kazan State Agrarian University
Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut took part in the opening of a new dormitory at Kazan State Agrarian University. They were accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov and Acting Rector of the University Ilshat Nuriyev.
The facility was built as part of the implementation of the state program "Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation". The dormitory is designed for 634 people. Each residential block has 2-3 rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen area. A sports ground and parking are located on the adjacent territory.
Oksana Lut noted the importance of creating modern infrastructure for students. "Despite our age of robotics, automation and artificial intelligence, the agro-industrial complex cannot cope without people. We need personnel, young specialists who believe in our agriculture, understand the importance of this industry. And of course, it is necessary to create comfortable conditions for students to study and live. Today we are happy to open this wonderful dormitory. I congratulate everyone on this event," the minister addressed the participants of the ceremony.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the Kazan State Agrarian University is actively developing, there are plans to increase the number of students, including foreign ones. "Our agrarian university has excellent infrastructure, scientific base, teaching staff. But if there are no places to live, it will be difficult to solve the problems facing the agro-industrial complex. I myself, being a student at this university, lived in a dormitory for five years. Today we are opening a new student house, where the most comfortable conditions have been created," emphasized Rais Tatarstana.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov and Oksana Lut inspected the rooms and utility rooms of the new dormitory, visited the medical unit and the gym.
Kazan State Agrarian University was opened in 1922. By order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation dated December 20, 2024, the university was reorganized by merging with the Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine named after N.E. Bauman and the Tatar Institute for Retraining of Agribusiness Personnel.
Taking into account the forecast for the fulfillment of the admission plan as of September 1, 2025, more than 8.5 thousand students will study at the university in higher and secondary vocational education programs, including over 600 foreign citizens. Specialists are trained in 11 major groups of specialties. Successful research work has been established in the fields of agronomy, agricultural engineering, veterinary science, animal science, economics, forestry, etc. There are 8 scientific schools, and the research work covers 12 branches of science.
Involving students in scientific work in the agro-industrial complex corresponds to the goals and objectives of the federal project "Personnel in the AIC" of the national project "Technological Support for Food Security".
