The Republican Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan and Rostelecom have begun implementing a pilot project to build a network of weather stations in the region. The agricultural monitoring system will ensure the accuracy of weather forecasts and allow for more efficient planning of seasonal work in agriculture.
Specialists have already installed weather stations in 25 municipal districts of Tatarstan. Each device is equipped with sensors for collecting data on air temperature, wind direction and speed, atmospheric pressure, precipitation, and ultraviolet radiation levels. The information received from the devices is uploaded to the personal accounts of farmers. Analytics can be viewed in a browser or mobile application.
“In July, we completed the first stage of construction of our network and have already tested the system. By the end of the year, we plan to install more than 100 weather stations in all districts of Tatarstan. "I am confident that representatives of the agricultural industry will appreciate the advantages of the digital solution," said Pavel Gontsov, Director of the Rostelecom branch in the Republic of Tatarstan.
"We have provided farmers with access to operational weather data — they are now actively testing the system. Our project is one of the largest in Russia and covers the entire territory of the republic," said Niyaz Khaliullin, General Director of the Republican Information and Computing Center.
The meteorological equipment has the necessary certification and licenses. The devices allow you to receive a weather forecast for several days in advance with an accuracy of up to 95%. The built-in battery lasts for nine months of autonomous operation.
This project confirms the effectiveness of modern technologies in the development of the agricultural sector, which corresponds to the goals and objectives of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State."
The strategic partnership agreement between Rostelecom and the Republican Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan was signed at the Kazan Digital Week international forum in 2024.
