Today, a working meeting with a delegation from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. It was attended by First Deputy Minister Lenar Garipov, Deputy Ministers Rustem Gainullov and Rafael Fattakhov, as well as Director of Tatarsky Stud Farm No. 57 LLC Nikolay Skokov.
The delegation included the head of the department of the Kumgil economic consortium Ryu Sang Nam, representatives of the Chollima trading company Ryang Sun Zin, Ra Yun Guk, Ryu Myung Ho, Kang Zong Hak and Han Gen Zun, as well as a representative of the Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the Russian Federation Pak Sung Guk.
Lenar Garipov noted that the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the leading domestic regions in the sphere of oil production, oil refining and petrochemistry. "We are actively developing mechanical engineering and agriculture, scientific and educational centers are being created and functioning. The area of Tatarstan is 68 thousand km², and the population is more than 4 million people," he said.
According to him, the share of agricultural products in the gross regional product of Tatarstan is 7%. The Republic is fully self-sufficient in livestock products. "Per capita, we produce 61% more milk, 18% more meat, and 32% more eggs than the consumption norm," the First Deputy Minister emphasized.
The owner of the organization "Tatar Horse Farm No. 57" Nikolai Skokov has been supplying horses for the cavalry regiment of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for several years. Over the past 7 years, the DPRK has purchased over 15 heads for the cavalry regiment.
The enterprise is actively developing and today the farm has about 300 heads of horses of different breeds: Orlov trotters, Soviet and Russian heavy draft horses. More than 30 foals are born annually. From 15 to 20 heads are tested at the hippodrome every year. The best of them are kept at the Kazan hippodrome, where they are trained and raised as champions by master riders Irina Bakurina, Dmitry Bulygin, Marat Sharifullin, Marat Faizullin and Azamat Abelev.
The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening trade and economic relations in the agro-industrial complex and noted the prospects for joint cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Lenar Garipov invited everyone to visit the International Agro-Industrial Exhibition "Agrovolga - 2025" from July 9 to 11 and the International Business Forum "ROSTKI" from August 18 to 19.
