An expert session "Reserves of the consumer cooperation system: procurement activities" was held today in Kazan. It was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov, Chairman of the Council of the Central Union of Russia Dmitry Zubov, Chairman of the Board of the Tatpotrebsoyuz Rashat Shaimardanov, heads of regional departments of consumer cooperation of the Republic of Tatarstan and other officials.

Consumer cooperation primarily represents the interests of rural consumers. The functions of the cooperatives are directly related to the socio-economic transformations in the countryside. As the main task, the maximum satisfaction of the needs of the villagers in the necessary goods and services was determined.

Marat Akhmetov, Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, proposed to think over new forms of support for the population in order to increase the production of agricultural products.

“We need to find incentives to involve the population even more in the production of agricultural products, for example, even in household plots. Someone has 20 or 30 acres, but more than half of these plots are either sown with grass or are completely empty,” he said.

Marat Akhmetov added that consumer cooperation in Tatarstan is a socially oriented structure, and without it “it is impossible to imagine the life of the village. “The village is aging, although the potential there is still high, but it needs to be increased, perhaps through consumer cooperation. There is a result, dynamics, but we need to look for reserves,” the parliamentarian stressed.

In his opinion, in addition to procurement, consumer cooperatives need to develop deep processing of products.
