“This week in Tatarstan it is planned to introduce a state of emergency due to drought. During the past week, we collected information from the Hydrometeorological Center. In the regions, there is somewhere soil, and somewhere atmospheric drought. All these negative phenomena can be traced throughout the country. In June, in Tatarstan, at a rate of 60 millimeters, on average, only 15 millimeters of precipitation fell,” Marat Zyabbarov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, said at a press conference in Tatar-inform.
He also said that at the expense of federal and regional programs 3-4 thousand hectares are reclaimed annually in Tatarstan. All requests for land reclamation are satisfied. Subsidized costs for equipment, laying water pipes, construction of dams. Unfortunately, not everyone is ready to invest their funds in this direction, despite the large state support.
“The state of emergency will have a positive impact on the farms that have insured crops. This year, many farms were insured, more than last year. The state of emergency should affect some kind of compensation. But it is very difficult to work with insurance campaigns,” said Marat Zyabbarov.
According to the minister, Tatarstan plans to harvest about 3.8 million tons of grain this year. The republic still has last year's balances in the amount of more than 1 million tons. The complete absence of rain in the republic seriously reduces the yield of grain crops, and there are also problems with fodder. Due to weather conditions, about 50 thousand hectares of various crops had to be re-sown,” said Marat Zyabbarov.
