New digest: sugar beet harvesting in the Republic of Tatarstan
Another hot topic on the agenda is the harvesting of sugar beets in 10 districts and operation of 2 sugar factories in the Republic of Tatarstan
Two sugar factories currently operate in the Republic of Tatarstan, the share of their products in the Russian market is about 12%: Zainsky Sugar OJSC and Buinsky Sugar LLC. The Republic of Tatarstan fully meets the needs of the region in sugar (in the Republic of Tatarstan, the gross production of granulated sugar is 332 thousand tons per year - while the population needs 150 thousand tons).
This year, in the Republic of Tatarstan, the area under sugar beet crops amounted to 50.1 thousand hectares.
The yield of beets increased by 45.8% compared to 2021 (120.7 centners per hectare) and decreased by 12.1% compared to 2020.
This year, sugar beet is grown in 10 regions of the Republic of Tatarstan, the largest areas under sugar beet are allocated in Sarmanovsky (9.2 thousand hectares), Zainsky (8.9 thousand hectares), Buinsky (8.1 thousand hectares), Tetyushsky (6.07 thousand hectares) and Menzelinsky (4.03 thousand hectares) regions of the Republic of Tatarstan due to the proximity of these territories to sugar factories.
According to preliminary estimates (November), the gross harvest of sugar beet this year may reach 1.9 million tons with an average yield of 384 centners per hectare. In the 2022/23 sugar-making season, about 890,000 tons of sugar beet will be supplied to the Buinsky sugar plant, and 975,000 tons to the Zainsky sugar plant. Excluding losses of beets during storage and transportation, the following will be processed for processing: Buinsky sugar factory - 860 thousand tons, Zainsky sugar factory - 944 thousand tons. From such a quantity of raw materials, on average, it is possible to produce the following volume of granulated sugar with an average output of granulated sugar: Buinsky sugar factory - 137 thousand tons, Zainsky sugar factory - 136 thousand tons. The predicted volume of sugar production in the republic is 273 thousand tons. The republic must fully provide itself with granulated sugar.
