The Ministry discussed plans and prospects for the development of horses of the Tatar breed

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan chaired by the Deputy Minister Lenar Garipov held a working meeting on plans for the development of horses of the Tatar breed. It was attended by the head of the GKU "breeding business in animal husbandry of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan" Rishat Zaripov, the deputy head of the main department of veterinary medicine of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan Gabdulkhak Motygullin, the head of the department of biology, genetics and breeding of animals of the "KGAVM named after N.E. Bauman” Ravil Khaertdinov, heads of farms.

The meeting participants discussed issues of further development of selection and breeding work and improvement of the breeding qualities of Tatar horses.

“At the moment, we are facing the following tasks,” said Lenar Garipov. “This is improving the quality and purity of the breed by culling horses that do not meet the standards of this breed, assessing the quality of the resulting offspring, competent accounting and registration, timely chipping, preparing horses for equestrian events held in the Republic of Tatarstan.”

The results of the work on the breeding business were summed up by Rishat Zaripov. He spoke about the peculiarities of tribal accounting and compilation of tribal certificates. Deputy Head of the Main Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan Gabdulkhak Motygullin recalled the veterinary requirements when importing horses from other regions.

As a result of the discussion, the following tasks were set for the development of horses of the Tatar breed:

- to work on the creation of a breeding plan to improve the productive and breeding qualities of horses of the Tatar breed for 2022-2032.

- create a register of the main mares and stallions of producers.

- young animals that have passed the selection according to the breed standard are chipped before weaning with further entry into the accounting book.

It was also decided to include in the program of the Horse Day a distance run of 40 and 60 km, as well as separate races on horses of the Tatar breed. In addition, the ring-brooding of horses of the Tatar breed at the Kazan hippodrome is planned to be held annually.
