26 May 2021, Wednesday

In the fields of the republic, forage harvesting works have begun. This is a hot time for agricultural producers, because the quality of feed will depend on the income of enterprises for the whole year.

According to the operational data of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, farmers of three districts of the republic – Zainsky, Nurlatsky and Chistopolsky are now engaged in forage harvesting.

To date, farmers of the Zainsky district have mowed 250 hectares of perennial grasses, harvested 480 tons of haylage.  The laying of haylage in the area is carried out with the use of bio-preservatives "Best-Sil". The work is performed by 4 forage harvesters "Jaguar", 2 forage harvesters of the brand "John-Deere" and 17 units of mowers. Zainsk farmers plan to mow 7305 hectares of perennial grasses and prepare 41 thousand tons of haylage.

"The development of perennial herbs is in the budding phase, the greatest amount of energy is contained in this phase. Therefore, it is important not to be late, otherwise the food may lose its useful properties. Haylage is an important and irreplaceable component in the diet of cattle in winter. The quality of the milk produced and the economic well - being of the farms directly depend on its quality," says Fargat Kamaliyev, head of the district agricultural department.

In total, more than 2051 hectares of perennial grasses were mowed in the republic, the first 2993 tons of haylage were harvested.
