This year, 44 samples of pesticides were tested, six of them showed a decrease in the active substance and in two samples - its absence.

The Tatarstan branch of the Russian Agricultural Center recommends that the agrarians of the republic check pesticides for the content of the active substance for the effective use of plant protection products in the cultivation of crops.

Active ingredient - a substance (or a mixture of substances) of chemical or biological origin, which is a part of a pesticide and has a toxic effect on harmful insects, rodents, weeds, pathogens of plants and animals. Use of pesticides in agricultural production is in demand, since they protect crops from pests, diseases, weeds, and affect productivity.

Galina Polyakh, Deputy Head of the Russian Agricultural Center for the Republic of Tatarstan, noted that protective measures can show high efficiency when the active substance is contained in pesticides specified in the catalog "List of pesticides and agrochemicals permitted for use in the Russian Federation."

“If in the used preparations the active substance is absent or is in a smaller amount, then the effectiveness of the protection of agricultural crops is significantly reduced, which leads to a loss of yield,” she explained.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan, this year 44 samples of pesticides were tested, and six samples (14%) showed a decrease in the norm of the active substance and two samples (5%) showed its absence.

“In 2020, the absence of the active substance was revealed in 12% of the pesticides tested in the testing center of the branch, and also in 21% of the preparations, there was a decrease of the active substance,” she said.
