Rural tourism: What will surprise visitors of Divodvorie in Yelabuga district

25 September 2020, Friday

Many townspeople dream of living in a village, but only a few dare to change urban comfort to a village. Svetlana Sagunova was among those people four years ago. A city woman working in tourism, who has traveled around dozens of countries, settled in the village of Maltsevo, Yelabuga District, and created an ethno-aesthetic leisure space "Divodvorie" there.

“When we moved and bought a house, I had a desire to get 10 chickens to have my own egg. We collected the most beautiful ones, but realized that this amount was not enough,” Svetlana Sagunova, the owner of the Divodvorie ethno-aesthetic leisure space, remembers.

Today the space "Divodvorie" is considered a rather popular place among the townspeople. People come here not only to escape from the bustle of the city, but also to receive medical treatment.

The farm contains peacocks, guinea fowls and pheasants of various, including rare, breeds. The hostess tried forty breeds. As an avid poultry woman, she follows trends in the world of chicken fashion.

Svetlana Sagunova proudly shows her favorite and the most fashionable Chinese. "This unique Chinese breed of chickens is called Uheyiluy. It is translated as black skin or black meat. Chickens have black skin, bone, meat and a blue egg. The meat has a specific taste," says Svetlana Sagunova.

In "Divodvorie" they not only buy new interesting breeds, but also breed them. There are incubators for this. But experience told the owners that it turns out better in natural way.

"Many chickens incubate the egg themselves. And when the mothers hatch the chicks, they look after them. After the natural birth, the chickens become healthier, we are relieved of a lot of worries," says Svetlana Sagunova, owner of Divodvorye.

Meanwhile, not only birds live in Divodvorie, but also goats, horses and dogs. Almost all are unusual and rare breeds.

For example, the Russian hunting greyhound is a dog of noble blood. It was this breed that participated in the royal hunt. This is probably why it was almost exterminated in Soviet times. And here is the black terrier, already bred by Soviet breeders. This dog is a friend of children and everyone's favorite. There are also more serious representatives of the species - the Turkish kangal.

"This dog is a national treasure of Turkey. Turkish wolfhound is a very brave and strong dog. They have a protective function and help us with herding goats," says Irina Morozova, a guide and dog handler of the leisure space.

Goats and horses live on the farm. What are the beautiful Transbaikalian curly horses brought from the Chetinsky region!

"They were brought wild from the herd, but the girls are not aggressive. Absolutely calm, adequate. They quickly got used to us, they get along with children very well," says riding instructor Svetlana Vasilyeva.

Even just to admire and pet these animals is already a pleasure. But the spectacle is not limited here. In Divodvorie, children are taught horseback riding, as well as hippotraphy events are presented here. Children with cerebral palsy and other ailments are treated by "Russian heavy trucks", and kids can simply ride on a Shetland pony.

If until recently Divodvorie was an entertainment, then this year it has begun to bring more tangible benefits.

"Now, during a pandemic, it made it possible for us to think of it as a business project. But love and interest are in the first place," says Svetlana Sagunova.

You can talk about Divodvorie for a long time. And about the camel Elsa Karlovna, who grew up here and seems to feel like a member of the family, and about the Chinese silk chickens, which at first glance can be mistaken for dogs. Everyone feels comfortable here. And most importantly - the guests like it. The plans of the former townspeople are to revive the royal hunting with all the traditions, rituals and the corresponding environment.
