25 August 2020, Tuesday

Many gardeners of Tatarstan have grown grapes in recent years. However, in most cases, within our conditions, it does not have enough time to ripen or the fruits have a sour taste. Growing sweet grapes in Tatarstan is a science. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with experienced winegrowers, continues a series of publications with tips, following which you can get a rich, and most importantly, a truly sweet grape harvest.

By the end of summer, every self-respecting winegrower turns into a grape chaser. The end of August is the time when the berry is poured with juice, and gardeners help the plants to direct all their forces to it. Expert Rustem Gumerov will tell you what work needs to be done with grapes in late August - early September.

“From the 2nd half of August, the vineyard is changing. The bunches, pouring, turn into a storehouse of sun rays. Now they need to continue feeding, keeping nitrogen at a minimum. One of the main tasks during this period is to direct all the forces of the plant to feed the bunches, ”says the chairman of the Kazanskaya Vine club Rustem Gumerov.

Next trim the tops to the first true leaves, about 50-60 cm. Take the tops and cut them off without regret. If the bush is very long, you can cut it off more than 50-70 cm, ”says an experienced grower.

Grapes are a plant that can grow up to 7-10 meters per season. “In order to build up such a mass of juice, the nutrition goes away, and we stop it. It remains in the vine, then sugar accumulates in the bunches. During minting, we find the missed stepsons and delete them. No need to regret, the more we cut, the better. For the ripening of the vine, 2 meters is enough”, the grower advises.

In order for the berries to ripen faster, it is necessary to open them to the sun's rays. We open the berries, cut off the unnecessary lower leaves that cover them. They will begin to gain sugar faster.

The most pleasant time in the vineyard is ahead. It's time to harvest soon, but in anticipation of pleasant moments, one should not forget about the treatment of plants from diseases.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan reminds that everyone can learn the art of viticulture at the club "Kazan Loza" at the Agrarian University. For more information, please call 8 (903) 342-07-69 Rustem Gumerov.
