In each district there are people who have opened their own business in the countryside with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. These are family farms and young entrepreneurs doing what they love. One of these is Ildar Sitdikov.

In 2012, he won a grant from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan by the Beginner Farmer program, and in Zelenodolsk district, on once empty land, he began to grow berries and then salads. He built greenhouses and nowadays he collects more than 60 tons of crops per year.

Now on his farm - it’s a hot time to harvest salads, about a ton of fresh and fragrant products is removed per day.

Lollo Ross - coral salad. Italian plant adapted to the Tatarstan climate. Grown from 40 to 45 days. One bush weighs almost a kilogram. “That's about two dinners for a whole family,” local experts say.

Romano salad is the most popular in the world. It also took root on Tatarstan land. Chefs of haute cuisine prepare the beloved Caesar with its leaves.

“I would not say that they are capricious with a proper care. And there is an opportunity in our region to grow these crops,” says Lily Garipova, agronomist of the farm.

Cleaning starts in the morning, ends in the evening. The inhabitants of local villages are working. Those who lost their job because of the coronavirus were also hired. Payment is stable. On July 10, the collection of a new crop of salads and strawberries starts. They are ready to employ up to 100 people.

Now farmers are actively exploring the Tatarstan market. Negotiations are conducted with retail chains. In terms of import substitution, they are sure that berries and salads will not yield to foreign ones.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan reminds that berries and salad, in addition to taste, have a lot of useful properties. So, salad strengthens the immune system, lowers cholesterol and accelerates the metabolism, and strawberries are full of vitamins and antioxidants that strengthen vision, memory and allow you to maintain active longevity. Cheers!
