7 April 2020, Tuesday

Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev held a regular meeting of the Operational Headquarters to monitor the situation with socially significant agricultural products and food. Representatives of the Federation Council, federal authorities, supervisory authorities, key financial organizations, industry unions and associations, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard, jointly discussed the situation on the domestic food market and, in general, in the agricultural sector. Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov took part in the event.

Dmitry Patrushev noted that the current regime of non-working days does not apply to organizations providing the population with food and essential goods, as well as to continuous-cycle enterprises. These include both organizations of the agro-industrial complex and related industries, which can continue their work. In addition, the constituent entities of the Russian Federation by their decision can expand the list of socially significant goods, as well as determine the organizations that can operate during this period.

According to the Minister, the primary duty is to provide the population with food, therefore, the industry should function smoothly, and the sowing campaign should be carried out in a regular mode. At the same time, as Dmitry Patrushev stated, signals are received from certain regions about the difficulties in moving vehicles with the cargo necessary for the stable operation of the agricultural sector - including fertilizers, seeds, spare parts and finished products. Given the possible risks associated with excessive bureaucratization of logistics processes, the Minister urged the heads of agribusiness to take control of the transport situation and, if necessary, inform the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the supervisory authorities, and the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard to help the agricultural sector ensure an uninterrupted operation.

Dmitry Patrushev also pointed out the need for support of farmers from the regional authorities in terms of organizing the marketing of agricultural products, including through retail chains.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister recalled the need for continuous monitoring of the timely payment of wages to employees of agricultural enterprises and recommended assessing the need for additional personnel, including for seasonal field work.
