Alexander Braverman: “The advantage of agricultural cooperatives is the access to large retail chains and credit resources”

Today Kazan has hosted the Strategic Session of the Corporation of Small and Medium Enterprises. The General  Director of the Corporation Alexander Braverman, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Rishat Khabipov and agricultural producers of Tatarstan have discussed the development of agricultural cooperation.

The seminar was opened by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Rishat Khabipov, announcing the main issues of support for farmers and the development of agricultural cooperation. “In Tatarstan, there are 3,898 thousand people, 900 thousand of them live in the countryside. Today, 455 thousand people own private subsidiary farms and 4,263 - peasant farms. Sustainable development of agricultural production by small and medium-sized businesses in the countryside is observed, it has become possible due to state support. This year, more than 2 billion rubles were allocated for these purposes, 1.3 billion of which are grants. So, thanks to the implementation of the National Project by the Agrostartup program, 103 farmers received grants. They can transfer part of the received funds to the agricultural cooperative, ”said Rishat Khabipov.

Also, continuing the topic of agricultural cooperation, the deputy minister noted the possibility of reimbursing 50% of the cost of machinery, equipment and livestock during the acquisition and transfer to the agricultural cooperative. Rishat Khabipov also reminded that in the Republic in order to implement measures aimed at the creation and development of agricultural cooperatives, the "Center of competencies for the development of agricultural cooperation in the Republic of Tatarstan" was created.

The importance of agricultural cooperation was also supported by the CEO of SME Corporation Alexander Braverman. “Undoubtedly, agricultural cooperatives have better access to federal retail chains and credit resources,” said Alexander Braverman, adding that in order to support small and medium-sized businesses, including agricultural producers, SME Corporation has entered into a cooperation agreement with METRO CASH & CARRY.

In addition, as part of the round table, representatives of the largest trading network, MSP Bank JSC, Rosselkhozbank JSC, Sberbank PJSC and VTB Bank spoke about various support measures for farmers, including using the SME Business Navigator Portal.

Further, the participants went on to a more detailed discussion in the format of questions and answers, and also had the opportunity to communicate individually with representatives of the SME Corporation, banks and the retail network.
