In the Avangard agrofirm of the Buinsky district a few years ago soybean was the first to be cultivated in the area, then yellow and white mustard. This year they have planted an oil radish.

According to the general director of the agrofirm, Rasykh Amirzyanovich, they found an extraordinary interest in oil radish - the plant is a well-known honey culture. The main advantage is that it blooms for a long time - up to one month and continues to secrete nectar even during the cool weather. And this culture does not need to be treated with any chemicals. So, it is harmless to insects. Buinsk beekeepers already use it. It does not even allow the growth of wheatgrass, which is very difficult to remove, it destroys the wireworm. The rotted tops create a favorable environment for the reproduction of worms and other biological organisms useful for the soil.

“This year, 6,000 hectares of steam lands were left for winter crops, 3,200 hectares of which are green manure fallow — white, yellow mustard and oil radish. The last one was sown on 650 hectares, ”says Rasykh Amirzyanovich. He listed all the beneficial properties of oil radish. It is a plant with a strong root system with its long roots removes nutrients from the lower layers of the soil to the top. The cut green mass turns into a fertilizer rich in humus and organic matter. It is equal to the application of 80 tons of organic fertilizers per hectare of soil. This plant is considered to be the most effective for preventing erosion in the spring and autumn periods. Good effect on the structure of the soil, loosening it and creating drainage even in the deep layers. On average, 85 pounds of nitrogen, 25 pounds of phosphorus and 100 pounds of potassium are fed per hectare.

In the agrofirm, the above-mentioned sidereal crops have already begun to be introduced into the soil by disc cleaners, they prepare the soil for winter crops. Oil radish on the square thresh on the seeds. According to Rasykh Amirzyanovich, it will ripen by early August. After its threshing on this site they will hold the autumn sowing.

In the future, the agricultural company is planning to cultivate oil radish for animal feed. Now this direction is being studied. As a fodder crop, it quickly ripens, with each hectare capable of producing an average of 300-400 centners, with fertilizer - up to 700 centners of the crop. It can be used as a green mass, in a mixture with other cultures to lay on haylage, silage, to harvest grass meal.
