In 2014 animal breeding in Tatarstan showed a little growth, which is a good result taking into account existing problems of AIC. The idea was said by the Deputy Prime Mister – the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov at a weekly session in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan today.
“Taking into consideration the problems of previous years, I see the results of 2014 as being satisfactory, - stated Marat Akhmetov in his speech. – We managed to preserve the growth rate in agriculture. There is a slight increase but we want more”.
In 2014, 481,000 tons of cattle and poultry (+0.2%) were produced in Tatarstan, the gross milk yield was 1.73 million tons (+1%) while milk yield in private farm households were reduced by 40,000 tons (-6%), 1.1 billion eggs were produced.
Cattle population stayed at the same level – 1.03 million. Cow population was reduced by 2% (373,000). Reduction of population is mainly seen in private farm households (-6% in 2014). Marat Akhmetov noted that private farm households got enough attention from the authorities so the decrease of cattle population became a concern.
“Last year was good for milk cattle breeding, - stated Marat Akhmetov, commenting the results of milk production. – Purchasing prices provide profitable production”.
The biggest growth rate was in Mamadysh municipal district (30%). The biggest milk production output was in Baltasi municipal district (60,000 tons).
The profit of Tatarstan agricultural organizations amounted to 71.7 billion rubles (+14%) from distribution of products, where 51 billion rubles (72%) were received from selling of cattle breeding products (+20%) and 18.6 billion rubles were received from selling of milk (+36%).
“Today prices for milk are at the level of the last year. We expect to receive about 3.5 million rubles from selling of milk during January and February, - stated the minister of agriculture and food of the Republic of Tatarstan. – Taking into consideration the fact that in the current year a lot of agricultural organizations will not be able to allow getting credits and loans, the only resource for successful sowing campaign is the money from selling of milk”
The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov paid attention to the necessity to increase the profitability of milk production in a number of farm households. “Yield is one thing. These are costs that are also important. It is necessary to receive not only earnings but also profit”, reminded the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
“Milk brings earnings. However it cannot appear without any efforts. Animal breeding is a serious and complicated process which requires great efforts and work of people”, stated Rustam Minnikhanov.
He asked heads of municipal districts to prevent purchasing of milk from people at lower prices.
