Due to multiple finding of banned and hazardous substances such as tetracycline antibiotics, salt of heavy metals, microorganisms and pathogens in milk and dairy products imported into Russia from the Ukraine, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance decreed to impose restrictions on import of milk and dairy products from the Ukraine into Russia since July 28, 2014. The Russian Federal Service informed the Ukrainian Veterinary Service about this decision on the phone.
In total 27 Ukrainian milk processing enterprises had licenses on import into the Russian market. Since 2009 Russia has put restrictions on 10 enterprises due to repeated breach. Last year the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance detected 37 goods items with defective and dangerous dairy products, this year there have been 196 defected goods items. The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance informed the Ukrainian Veterinary Service about each case of defected and dangerous products, asked to perform internal investigation, to present its results and to take measures. However the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance did not receive any data.
