29 May 2014, Thursday

Yesterday in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan a session on fodder conservation chaired by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Nikolai Titov, was held.

Heads of agricultural and food departments of municipal districts of the republic were invited to the session.

Nazip Khazipov, Deputy Minister of Cattle Breeding, introduced the tasks for the forthcoming period of fodder preservation.

According to his words, the income from the sales of cattle breeding products amounted to 16.1 billion rubles by May 1, 2014 (123% in comparison with 2013), where 6.5 billion rubles were from the sales of milk (155%), 8.4 billion rubles were from the sales of cattle and poultry (109%).

Nazip Khazipov noted that it was necessary to start woody forage and forbs preservation as soon as possible. The latter was almost the main fodder for young stock during the winter period of 2010-2011.

Alongside with providing agricultural enterprises with fodders it is vital to take steps to fodder preservation for cattle in private farm households. In majority of cases it were the problems with fodder that resulted in the reduction of cattle in private farm households”, noted Deputy Minister of Cattle Breeding.

There is a need for 2 million fodder units for the winter period. According to the words of Deputy Minister of Farming Agriculture, now it is necessary to get prepared for the winter period on meadows and pastures as well as to encourage people to preserve fodder and to sow fodder crops (millet, sorgo, etc.).

To keep up with the current situation it is important to provide correct data on the work done”, summed up Ildus Gabdrakhmanov.
