Development of the Tatar Horse Breed Discussed at Kazan State Agrarian University

A coordination meeting on the development of the Tatar horse breed was held at the N.E. Bauman Kazan Academy of Veterinary Medicine of Kazan State Agrarian University. The event was attended by Acting Rector of Kazan State Agrarian University Ilshat Nuriyev, Director of Kazan Hippodrome LLC Giyaz Idiyatullin, Head of the Animal Breeding and Reproduction Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Damir Minnebayev, Head of the Tatar Horse Breeding Center Ilnur Kamaldinov, and Associate Professor of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Feeding, and Zoohygiene Marina Sushentsova.

Also present were farms breeding Tatar horses, heads of district agriculture and food departments in the Republic of Tatarstan, and directors of stud farms.

Ilshat Nuriyev emphasized the importance of developing horse breeding in the Republic of Tatarstan, emphasizing the need for close cooperation between breeding farms and breeding centers and the involvement of students in their activities.

Damir Minnebayev, Head of the Animal Breeding and Reproduction Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, reported on state support measures for horse breeding to promote the selection and improvement of the Tatar horse breed, as well as the entry of data into the Federal State Information System of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Furthermore, Ilnur Kamaldinov, Head of the Tatar Horse Breeding Center, outlined the center's key activities aimed at improving the quality of the breed.

Marina Sushentsova, Associate Professor of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Feeding, and Zoohygiene, presented the results of phenotypic and genetic studies of equine populations and discussed the possibility of creating specialized breed types.

Giyaz Idiyatullin, Director of Kazan Hippodrome LLC, spoke about the "Tatar Sports Horse" program, which aims to create conditions for developing the athletic capabilities of the Tatar breed.

The meeting concluded with a roundtable discussion, where participants discussed a range of issues, including organizing cooperation among horse breeding farm owners, updating breed standards, developing processed horse products, and implementing measures under the "Productive Horse Breeding" project as part of the "Priority 2030" federal program.
