Farmers and agricultural producers of Tatarstan can insure their livestock with 50% state support
Insurance is one of the most effective ways to stabilize risks in the agricultural sector, enabling commodity producers to compensate for losses of agricultural products, protect themselves from possible bankruptcy, and ensure the sustainability of financial performance.
Insurance of farm animals with state support is the compensation of 50% of insurance premiums by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. Every year, the mechanism of agricultural insurance for animals is improving, becoming more flexible and aimed at increasing the availability and interest of farmers in insurance.
In total, in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2020, insurance companies entered into 6 insurance contracts for agricultural animals on the terms of state support. Most of the policyholders are large poultry and pig industries that do not need to be persuaded to insure. Under the existing contracts, 49% of the industrial poultry population is insured, and pig breeding covers more than 27% of the livestock. The total insured amount is more than 2.4 billion rubles, the amount of collected premiums was 19.3 million rubles. The number of insured farm animals amounted to 163.9 thousand heads.
“Among the insured was the poultry farm “Derzhavinskaya”, where a few days ago a fire killed 45 thousand heads of poultry. All poultry was insured with state support from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the damage received will be compensated. Therefore, we recommend that all agricultural producers pay attention to this instrument of protection against unfavorable factors, given that 50% of insurance premiums are compensated by the ministry, ”said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Lenar Garipov.
