First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jambulat Khatuov held a meeting on the development of the seed industry in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildus Gabdrakhmanov, Director of the Tatar Research Institute of Agriculture of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences Marcel Tagirov, Head of the FSBI State Commission Branch for RT Vitaly Novichkov, Deputy Head of the Branch of FSBI Rosselkhoztsentr for RT Rafis Khabibullin, General Director of Kazan Agrochem LLC Rustem Kalimullin and regional representative of KBC Alex Ziganshin.
Opening the meeting, Dzhambulat Khatuov emphasized that Russian farmers, being at risk in connection with the coronavirus epidemic, continue to work and ensure the country's food security. The sowing campaign is carried out as usual. The country's subjects are implementing the recommendations of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia on optimizing crops under sugar beets, while increasing the proportion of seeds of domestic selection.
“In order to popularize domestic selection and conduct a comparative analysis of the productivity of Russian hybrids of sugar beet, as well as corn and sunflower, the regions need to lay demonstration crops, controlling the cultivation technology. The results will be systematized for further forecasting for the crop of 2021,” said the First Deputy Minister.
By order of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia in Tatarstan, demonstration crops were laid on grain and leguminous areas of 5 hectares, corn - 19 hectares, sunflower - 9 hectares, rapeseed - 2 hectares, soybeans - 1 hectare, sugar beets - 76 hectares.
Participants also discussed improving the quality of domestic seed material used, its regionalization and scientific support. In addition, the dynamics of the acquisition of seeds and hybrids of Russian selection, as well as the forecasted area of their sowing for the crop of 2021, were examined.
