Marat Zyabbarov reported on the state of livestock breeding
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov reported on the state of livestock breeding in the Republic of Tatarstan today at a meeting in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held a videoconference with all municipal areas. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin also took part in the meeting.
Marat Zyabbarov said that over 2 months of this year, cash proceeds in the livestock of the republic amounted to 11.9 billion rubles. The growth was 9% compared to the same period of last year. During this period, 221 thousand tons of milk (+16.5 thousand tons) were milked at agricultural enterprises and 67.6 thousand tons of cattle and poultry were grown (+3.8 thousand tons).
The Minister noted that the main factor in the effective development of animal husbandry is the formation of a stable breeding base. In 24 municipal districts of the republic, 74 breeding plants and reproducers operate. There are 54 breeding farms, which contain more than 60 thousand cows. In the ranking of Russian regions in terms of breeding cows number, Tatarstan with a share of 5.7% takes the second place in the country, behind the Leningrad region. Next are the Kirov and Sverdlovsk regions.
According to Marat Zyabbarov, the productivity of cows in agricultural enterprises over the past year amounted to 5847 kg, and in pedigree farms - 7620 kg with an increase of 6% over the previous year. In 2020, the goal is to increase this indicator to 8 thousand kg.
The Minister reminded that in the Vysokogorsky district, the Elite breeding enterprise operates, which is the center of breeding and genetic work in the republic’s dairy farming. “The quality of the seed of bulls is world-class. Over the past year, more than 1 million doses of seed were produced and over 400 thousand were sold. It is necessary to use the available resources and seed material of the Elite enterprise”, said Marat Zyabbarov.
In 2019, 276 thousand calves were obtained in the republic. It is a difficult situation in the Kama-Ustyinsky, Menzelinsky, Laishevsky and Almetyevsky districts. The Minister called on farm managers to pay attention to this issue.
A third of the cows of the republic is kept in private farms. In this sector, artificial insemination coverage in 2019 was 60%. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan sets a goal to reach 70% by the end of this year.
In total, 126 district veterinary stations, built according to the republican program, operate in the republic.
The minister also briefly reported on the progress of spring field work. In the next 2 weeks, the weather will let to carry out work on fertilizer application on frozen soil. Today 17 districts have already begun feeding. Marat Zyabbarov recalled that early top dressing is economically feasible agricultural practices, especially in areas with weakened winter crops.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that breeding is an important part of livestock development. “While working in the Vysokogorsky district, I paid special attention to these issues. This is the resource that you need to develop yourself. We have the opportunity to do so. There is a tribal base, science, specialists. We need to use this wisely”, he said.
