On behalf of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, an operational headquarters was created to monitor the situation on the food markets of the republic, which included the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service for the Republic of Tatarstan. “Our experts go round the shops every day, monitor the availability of basic food products. If in the evening some stores have empty shelves, demand is slightly increased, then in the morning of the next day they are full”, commented the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Nail Zalakov.

In the Distribution Centers of the Republic there is a sufficient stock of products, which is constantly replenished in accordance with the needs of customers and, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, will be sufficient to provide fuse for at least 2 months. Retailers note that such jumps in consumer demand are not observed for the first time, as a rule, they last about 2 weeks, then there is a period of outflow with reduced demand.

“For the moment, we fully provide the population of the republic with basic food of our own production. Based on the recommendations of rational norms of food consumption, the population’s provision for meat, milk, eggs and bread is more than 100%, for sugar and potatoes - about 300%, and for vegetable oil the security is more than 6 times higher than the norm, ”noted first deputy minister.

“We would ask the population not to panic, and those who resell products not to raise prices. Nobody will be able to speculate on this situation with impunity. An agreement was reached with retailers on maintaining trade margins and prices at the current level. A similar work was carried out with our agricultural producers”, added Nail Zalakov, noting that in such situations it is dishonorable to cash in on people's fears and make profit on it. “On the contrary, we should be more attentive and support each other,” he said.
