The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan pays great attention to the development of small and medium enterprises in rural areas. Today in every district there are people who have opened their own business and successfully developed it. One of these is the Ulyanovs family from s. Tagashevo of Pestrechinsky district. In 2019, they received a subsidy from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan to support dairy livestock on private farms.

Mikhail has been engaged in animal husbandry for several years. He began to develop his business five years ago. By profession he is a veterinarian. The farm contains two Ayrshire cows and Alpine and British goats. Fragrant herbs are included in the diet of young goats and cows. To work on the farm, they use their own equipment. Grain for food is purchased, and hay is mowed independently. His parents, spouse and nephew help him take care of animals.

Ayrshire breed is considered the most suitable for breeding in our climatic conditions, as it easily adapts to snowy and frosty winters. They have good reproductive ability. Calves are born healthy and strong. After the third calving, they give about 33 liters of milk with a fat content of 5.4 percent. From milk, the farmer makes butter, cottage cheese, sour cream and yogurt.

“We have dairy goats of the Alpine and British breeds. Alpine goat milk has a unique composition, and its taste is similar to cow's. From the wool of British breed goats we knit shawls and mittens. We are not engaged in the implementation of knitwear yet.”, says Mikhail Ulyanov.

The farmer plans to increase the number of his unique animals and expand the production of healthy milk.
