Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan recommends farmers to increase the use of domestic seeds

On February 4, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dzhambulat Khatuov held a videoconference on the development of domestic selection and seed production. Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildus Gabdrakhmanov, Head of the Department for the Development of Agriculture Industries of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Sadykov, Head of the FSBI State Commissariat for the RT Vitaliy Novichkov, Deputy Head of the FSBI Rosselkhoztsentr for RT, Rafis Hab Director of FSBI "Center for Agrochemical Service" Tatar "Anas Lukmanov took part in the event.

Opening the meeting, Dzhambulat Khatuov emphasized that increasing the share of domestic seeds of various crops in 2020 will ensure food security in the country. To do this, it is important to develop technologies for the cultivation of sugar beets and provide farmers with fertilizers, a plant protection system and equipment.

The first deputy minister called on the regions cultivating sugar beets to increase the share of sowing by domestic seeds by 5%. In 2019, 223.1 tons of seeds of this crop were sown in Tatarstan on an area of ​​64.6 thousand ha. When sowing 51 thousand hectares this year, it is planned to sow about 3 thousand hectares of land with domestic seeds.

Corn is the third among gross crops in the Russian Federation. According to Jambulat Khatuov, more than 75 thousand tons of corn seeds are sown annually in the country, 45.8% of which accounted for domestic varieties last year. In the republic in 2019, the share of sown domestic varieties of this crop was 88%. In 2020, 45.6 thousand hectares will be set aside for sowing corn for grain.
