Today, the hero of our column “People of Labor”, in which we write about ordinary people who have earned honor and respect with their work, is the oldest veterinarian of Tatarstan Mikhail Dmitrievich Yakushkin. Today, on November 21, Mikhail Dmitrievich celebrates his 95th birthday.
Mikhail Dmitrievich was born in 1924 in a large family in the village of Prolei-Kasha, Tetyushsky district of the TASSR. Just before his 18 years anniversary, he got to the front. The intelligent guy was sent to the division of the famous Katyushas, he reached Germany and stormed Berlin.
He took up usual work only after graduation from Buinsky Veterinary College in 1949. It was a difficult time, the village was left without the youngest and strongest men. Collective farms and the population tried to keep cows, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry. They had to work from morning until late in the evening.
At the end of the 60s, they built a complex for 10 thousand sheep in the village and populated it with animals of the Prekos breed. Yakushkin, already in the position of a veterinarian, looked after and spent nights at the complex, carried out prophylaxis and treated animals. The hassle was many times greater, but the results increased several times, the farm more than once became the winner in Kazan and Moscow - for the best indicators for cutting wool, obtaining and maintaining offspring. 50 years he worked with passion.
At 62, Mikhail Dmitrievich retired. For military exploits and labor merits, the veteran was awarded two orders of World War II, medals "For military merits", "For the liberation of Warsaw", "For the capture of Berlin", "For the victory over Germany" and others. However, perhaps, the main award is the kind attitude of fellow countrymen. He devoted his whole life to ensuring that there is peace on earth and that people live a dignified and happy life.
