Marat Zyabbarov held talks with Danone Russia CEO Charlie Cappetti

On October 22, RT Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov met in Moscow with Danone Russia General Director Charlie Cappetti, vice president of fresh dairy products in Russia, the CIS, Turkey and the Middle East.

Recall that the Danone company includes 16 factories, including the branch of the Edelweiss Dairy Plant of Danon Russia JSC in Kazan. On the territory of the republic, a dairy plant purchases 90-130 tons of raw materials per day (depending on season and need), and works with 6 agricultural enterprises on an ongoing basis.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation. “Tatarstan is one of the leaders in Russia in the production and sale of milk, its processing in the republic and the delivery of finished products to other regions and countries allows us to leave added value in the region,” said Marat Zyabbarov.

Charlie Cappetti, in turn, shared his experience in milk processing and his future plans. “The company is focused on lean and environmentally friendly production, therefore, the long-term plans include acceptance in retail chains and further processing of plastic recyclables,” said the general director of the company.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan presented Charlie Cappetti a letter of gratitude on behalf of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and invited them to Kazan to discuss all aspects of further cooperation.

Danone was created in 1919 by the Spanish pharmacist Isaac Carasso, who became interested in the works of the Russian scientist Ilya Mechnikov, and created a new dairy product - yogurt. Today, the company is the largest producer of dairy products in the world, being represented on 5 continents and in 120 countries.

The company has been operating in Russia since 1992. The first plant was built in 1995 in Tolyatti. Currently, the company includes 16 factories, including the Edelweiss Dairy Plant branch of DANON RUSSIA JSC (Kazan).

The Tatarstan branch specializes in milk processing and the production of dairy products, built in 2004. The company has implemented a WISE safety culture and DaMaWay lean manufacturing program.

Investments and plans: in 2017, about 75 million rubles were invested (additional capacities for the production of sour cream - 180 tons / week), in 2018 - 50 million rubles to replace obsolete equipment and increase production efficiency).

For 2019, an investment project for the construction of local treatment facilities was approved, the project cost is about 300 million rubles.

DANON RUSSIA JSC in Tatarstan is actively working with milk suppliers. To date, the company does not cooperate with traders (only with farms). On the territory of the republic, it purchases 90-130 tons of raw materials per day (depending on the season and needs), on an ongoing basis cooperates with 6 agricultural enterprises. The company was the first in the republic to apply the practice of long-term contracts with farms, which provided suppliers with the opportunity to work stably in the conditions of raw material price volatility. All managers and leading specialists of Tatarstan agricultural enterprises were trained at the training center of DANON RUSSIA JSC - MBA (Dairy Business Academy) in the Lipetsk Region. The company allocated loans for field work, livestock purchase, reconstruction and construction of additional premises on farms: in 2018 - 52.3 million rubles, in 2019 - 72 million rubles.
