Today, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Nikolai Titov took part in the videoconference chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dzhambulat Khatuov on the current situation of beekeeping in the regions.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Nazip Khazipov and Ildus Gabdrakhmanov, Director of the State Budget Institution "Department of Aquaculture and Beekeeping of the Republic of Tatarstan" Faiz Dinmukhametov and other responsible persons.
On the basis of the information received from the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the Federal Research Center for Beekeeping, the Russian National Union of Beekeepers, the National Association of Beekeepers and Beekeeper Processors, the Union of Beekeepers and Beekeeping Organizations of the Country, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reports that 39.6 thousand bee families died, which is 1.3% of their total number in the Russian Federation (3.09 million bee families).
According to the Federal Research Center of Beekeeping, the current situation could be caused by the following reasons:
1. The early onset of spring and the high ambient temperature led to the rapid development of pests, as well as the release of several generations. The use of insecticides with the same active substance caused the development of resistance to them in each subsequent generation, as a result of which it became necessary to use other insecticides, which are most dangerous for honey bees.
2. Violation of the "Instructions for the prevention of bee poisoning by pesticides" of June 14, 1989; SanPiN 1.2.2584-10 Hygienic requirements for the safety of testing, storage, transportation, sale, use and disposal of pesticides and agrochemicals. The beekeepers are not aware of the processing.
The meeting discussed a set of measures to prevent poisoning of bees, field treatment with plant protection products.
“There is no point in dramatizing the situation - there is no mass death. However, the current situation showed the need of certification of apiaries and the creation of a register of beekeepers in each region with their actual location. This will help farmers to inform beekeepers about the use of plant protection products that can affect the condition of bees", said Khatuov.
During the meeting, the regions most affected by the death of bees, representatives of the Kursk, Tula, Lipetsk, Ryazan and Vladimir regions, the republics of Udmurtia and Mari El, the Oryol region reported on the causes of the incident and presented an analysis of the current situation and measures taken.
According to Dzhambulat Khatuov, the final assessment and analysis will be reported to Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeev. In addition, we inform that on August 5, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Gordeev will hold a meeting on the development of beekeeping in the country. Representatives of relevant departments and interested public organizations will participate in it.
