The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan held a meeting on the labeling of dairy products

At the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, a videoconference meeting was held on dairy products subject to mandatory labeling. The topic of the meeting: "Identification of certain types of dairy products on the territory of the Russian Federation – the second stage". The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan was represented at the event by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov and First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Nail Zalakov.

The event was attended by the Ministries of Agriculture and Food of the country, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, representatives of business, industry unions, as well as the largest manufacturers of food and beverages.

During the meeting, the emphasis was placed on the fact that the introduction of mandatory labeling is performed in several stages. The first stage - since June 1, mandatory labeling has already been introduced for certain categories of products, such as cheese and ice cream. The second stage - from September 1, the manufacturer will be required to label dairy products with a shelf life of less than 40 days. The last, third stage - from December 1, labeling will be mandatory for all dairy products and for natural packaged water.

"We will approach September 1 without rush. Everything is done gradually. We did the right thing by not introducing labeling for all categories of goods," Viktor Yevtukhov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, assured.

"There are more than 55 milk processing enterprises operating in the republic. The average daily volume of milk processing is 3,200 tons. The republic's production facilities have successfully passed the first stage of cheese and ice cream stage. 19 enterprises participated in the labeling, including 2 that produce ice cream. Enterprises that used the labeling method are now switching to the typographic method. According to the assessment of "Honest Sign", our republic entered the top 5 regions for joining the Volga Federal District. The second stage includes 21 enterprises. All have been registered, 15 manufacturers have chosen labeling, their readiness ranges from 65 to 100%. 6 enterprises have chosen direct application, the equipment has been ordered. Everyone is informed about the terms and stages of implementation. Agricultural enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan have successfully passed the first stage of labeling. We are ready for the second stage," Marat Zyabbarov said.

Following the meeting, the participants expressed their readiness to continue a constructive dialogue at the sites of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for further work on the introduction of labeling of dairy products.
