Scientists of the FSBSI “Tatar Science and Research Institute for Agriculture” developed a prospective potato variety named “Tango”. As of today, it is passed to the FSBI “Gossortokomissia” (“State variety commission”).
The maximum yield of the new variety was 34 tons/ha in 2015. The variety is resistant to different viruses.
“Tango” potato variety is a late ripening variety. This kind of potato is red and oval. There is up to 28% of dry solids content, up to 21% of amylum, the resistance to browning of raw and heat-treated pulp is on the level of 8-9 points according to the 10 point scale. The variety is universal. It can be used as fresh potato or for processing into potato products. The new variety is resistant to Sinchytrium endobioticum Shilb., Phytophthora infestans D.B., Streptomyces scabies Thaxter, Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn.
