Agrostartup: Trout business in the countryside

1 June 2020, Monday

A trout farm is successfully operating in Leninogorsk district. It was created by Jeykhun Namazov and his son Ruslan Efremov.

- Before the construction of this farm, my father and I worked in the wholesale trade of meat and fish and studied well the demand and requirements for these food products from both shops and restaurants, says Ruslan Dzheykhunovich. - We knew that the demand for salmon fish is steady, especially for trout, but it was necessary to choose the right place for production.” They counted on themselves, but also hoped for state support.

A suitable place was found in the Leninogorsk region of Tatarstan. With the help of specialists, fish-biological studies were carried out, and it was found that the water here has all the necessary physical and chemical parameters for the full-fledged trout cultivation.

Trout farm consists of pools, cages and an incubation workshop where farmers remove fry from eggs using running water. An incubation workshop for the reproduction of trout was launched the other day. The volume of the incubation workshop allows you to lay eggs up to 80 thousand pieces. This workshop was built with grant support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan under the federal program “Agrostartup” as part of the National Project “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Support for Entrepreneurship Initiatives”. Farmers plan not only to grow salable fish, but also to sell fish stock.

- This year, farmers planned to sell about 15-18 tons of marketable fish, sales will begin the other day. Their dream is to reach a volume of 100 tons of marketable fish and 5 tons of fish stock per year, build a workshop for the production of semi-finished products, ”says Ilnur Shamardanov, head of the department of agriculture and food in the Leninogorsk district.

To obtain such volumes of marketable fish, farmers will have to build new pools, improve the territory, and make good access roads.
