The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan warned about the situation on African swine fever

The issue of African swine fever in two regions bordering Tatarstan is becoming increasingly important for owners of pigs. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov on July 27 at a meeting in the Government House of the Republic.

According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, in early July of this year, 46 boars that died from this disease in the Nizhny Novgorod region. And since the beginning of the previous week, a dangerous virus has been registered in the Ulyanovsk region.

“These foci are located at a distance of only 120 - 140 kilometers from the Drozhzhanovsky district of Tatarstan,” the minister recalled.

“Despite the fact that the relevant services in these regions are taking measures to prevent the spread of infection, I ask you to work out all the issues with the population and hunting users on protection measures,” said Marat Akhmetov, addressing the heads of municipalities and relevant departments of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Minister called on the local authorities to warn the population about the danger of the spread of ASF in the region.

According to the head of the Ministry, taking into account the situation on African swine fever in two neighboring regions, all owners of pig-headed animals should be restricted to visiting forests. “Since it is possible to bring this misfortune in the form of African swine fever through grass, berries, and mushrooms,” said Marat Akhmetov.
